Sogod Bay Southern Leyte

Sogod Bay in Southern Leyte offers wonderful scuba diving with spectacular dive sites in one of the Philippines’ most recently discovered dive destinations. The prolific marine life ranges from pygmy seahorses through to whale sharks and there is also an incredible variety of extremely healthy and undamaged hard and soft coral. Sogod Bay offers a plethora of pristine reefs and our dive boat will probably be the only one at any given site dived during your stay. Indeed, much of the Sogod Bay area is essentially virgin territory and as a result we are still discovering new dive sites. You can experience all this in a beautiful and peaceful tropical setting and truly relax and enjoy your holiday - without fighting with hoards of other divers!
About Sogod Bay Dive Resort
At Sogod Bay Dive Resort we are committed to providing divers with a top class diving experience and great value for money. Within ten to thirty minutes of Sogod Bay there are over twenty dive sites accessible on our boat “Kermit” and from the shore. Whenever feasible we offer our guests sixty minute dives.

In addition to a vast array of both soft and hard coral Sogod Bay supports aquatic life from tiny pgymy seahorses, nudibranches and pipefish to turtles, frogfish, napoleon wrasse, and even, at the right time of year, whale sharks!
Certified PADI instructor Phil McGuire and Pedro Batestil offers a range of PADI courses, both for divers who are new to diving and for certified divers wishing to continue their dive education during their stay at the resort. The resort is the only dive operation in the area offering enriched air facilities.
Our philosophy is that the quality of the diving must be reflected in all areas of the resort. Accordingly, all of our accommodation has been designed with quality and comfort in mind. Indeed, since opening in February 2006 all of our guests have been impressed by the quality of our accommodation. Our cottages are equipped with air-conditioning and a fan and each cottage overlooks Sogod Bay, just a few metres from the shore.
Similarly, the resort staff have all been hand picked to ensure that our guests feel welcome and our restaurant serves a variety of cuisines.
Last, but certainly not least, the Sogod Bay Dive Resort is at the forefront of a number of environmental initiatives designed to maintain and enhance the local dive environment. Specifically, our resort is the sole sponsor of four recently established marine sanctuaries, three of which are within either walking distance or a ten minute boat ride of the resort.

Resort News 22/11/09
Our 4 new apartments have been a great success and we have been hosting alot of dive groups. Our new facilities can cater for up to 12 divers. There is a well stocked bar called the Surface Interval with pool table, movies and darts which is a great place for a group of divers to relax and enjoy their diving holiday.
Sogod Bay now has 11 marine sancturaries within the Bay. Limasawa is the latest marine sanctuary in the bay it’s one of the largest marine sanctuaries in the Philippines and includes two of our divesites Adrians Cove and Zack’s wall. The Southern Leyte Government is pushing for more marine sanctuaries within Southern Leyte and is a big supporter of the marine environment and eco tourism.
There are a few new discoveries in Sogod bay. In our marine sanctury in Santa Sofia we have seen a flamboyant cuttlefish, in the Lungsodaan marine sanctuary we have seen 3 different coloured pygmy seahores and on Napantau marine sanctury we’ve found a warty frog fish.
Whaleshark update 05/03/10
We are still seeing whale sharks at Limasawa done 30 trips so far this season and have seen whale sharks on 25 trips. Plenty of plankton and jelly fish in the water temperature around 26C so hopefully sightings will continue.
